If you are a reader who admires Emily Bronte and her famous works, such as Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights, you will enjoy this book. It is a story of her life - but not in a biographical format. The story begins when she is 14 years old, already aware of her gift, as a writer. When her beloved father grows ill, her life crumbles and she must come to terms with lots of insecurities. This is a well written book that gives a great insight into the life of a famous writer.

This is a powerful story, written by Thorton Wilder - a classic that you will want to read from start to finish. A tiny footbridge in Peru breaks, and five people hurtle to their deaths. For Brother Juniper, a humble monk who witnesses the catastrophe, the question is: Why those five? Did the monk find an answer to his question? As you read this book, you will discover why this work of fiction won the Pulitzer Prize.

If you are a fan of Indiana Jones, and also the author, Lloyd Alexander, you will love this book. The main character, Vesper Holly, is a 17 year old girl: fiesty, adventuresome, and smart. The setting is Central America. She owns a volcano! This volcano is believed to be dormant. Guess what? It is very much the opposite. Vesper defies all odds to save an entire tribe of Chirica Indians, as well as her guardian and herself. If you like adventure, check out this book. It is located in the "Read a Red Book" display, located in the library cafe area.

This is Neal Shusterman's latest book in the Unwind Dystology. It makes 1984 and Brave New World seem so tame, compared to this modern futuristic thriller. Find it on our Literary Guild display shelves!

The main character in this graphic novel is a gamer named Anda. Anda spends most of her free time playing a game called Coarsegold Online, where she can be a leader, a fighter, even a heroine. But things become a lot more complicated when Anda befriends a gold farmer -- a poor Chinese kid whose avatar in the game illegally collects valuable objects and then sells them to players from developed countries with money to burn. This behavior is strictly against the rules in Coarsegold, but Anda soon comes to realize that questions of right and wrong are a lot less straightforward when a real person is a victim of substandard working conditions. Anda meets Raymond, a Chinese teen who works as a gold farmer. She learns about his real life- how he works long days and has no health coverage. She encourages him to demand health care or strike, a choice that ends up having real-world ramifications. I liked this story very much. It had an important message, a call to action, and the artwork was beautiful. This book will especially appeal to girls!!
